The Wind Runner 3600 Series is my response to those of you who genuinely appreciate the unique character and quality of the Wind Runner 4800 but simply cannot afford to spend $3K+ on your e-bike – yet. It retains the basic design tenets of its bigger sibling, including the custom made battery housing that’s literally at the heart of the bike, but in a scaled back package that’s much more affordable. What also carries over are its nimble and responsive riding characteristics. The classic mountain bike heritage of this bike is unmistakable.

For those interested in around-town transportation with the sporty feel of a mountain bike, the Wind Runner 3600 e-bike is the answer. If adventure calls and you find yourself presented with the occasional off-road foray, no worries, the 3600 is up to the task. Its small, light geared motor continues to amaze me with its capacity to transport riders and gear smoothly and quietly. Its freewheeling ability allows the 3600 to retain more of a ‘regular bike’ feel when under pedal power alone. The front suspension affords a nice plush ride and the solid V-brakes are more than adequate to the job; in fact, they perform as well as some entry level disc brakes. (Buyer tip: high quality old-school trumps low quality new-school almost every time.)

Probably the top feature of the 3600 is its low weight. At 51 lbs, its one of the lightest full size bikes in the shop. This isn’t achieved in part by mounting a tiny battery with a short range (a tactic of some manufacturers). Its 36V 10AH battery will deliver upwards of 20 miles per charge easily. 30+ miles is possible for the conservative and efficient riders among us.
